Little Miss Eleanor came to my studio at two weeks old.
She was such a doll! Thanks, Kara, for bringing her to meet me!!
I had such a great time and Miss E was a wonderful baby model! ;)

I love this last one.....a smile AND a wink!! ;)

This was the birth announcement they chose, isn't it so fun and beautiful?! It's one of my new favorites!

Four Months of Sweetness {Midlothian Baby Photographer}

Thursday, April 25, 2013

This winter I officially opened my home studio. :)
I have never been much of a studio type photographer, as I prefer wide open spaces where kids can run and jump and be free. However, I have this AMAZING sun room in my house with 3 walls of sliding glass doors. As we were looking for houses (2 years ago already!) I knew as soon as I saw this room that it would be PERFECT for a small home studio. I couldn't get my act together the first winter we were here, but this past winter I was determined to keep my sessions rolling through the cold months, which are normally very slow for me. So I sent out a call for baby models, and the response was awesome! I have now had a bunch of studio sessions and I am LOVING it! I have so much more control over the variables....mainly light, which is sometimes tricky in clients houses. I also have my full  supply of props and accessories at hand, which I do not use a ton of, but it's nice to have some fun items to add a little pop to photos. :)
This is Miss Caroline. She made the trip over from Williamsburg, which is about an hour away (and where we used to live.) She was so adorable at her session and I am totally obsessed with the last shot on here with her gorgeous red hair and the lavender blanket and her sweet expression. <3 <3 <3
If you are interested in booking a baby or newborn studio session, I offer them at a discount ($50 off your session fee!) They are best for the littlest ones and only up to 3 people MAX. I can often combine studio shots with some fun outdoor shots on my property (weather permitting.) The azaleas are all blooming right now, so it's an amazing time for sessions here!
Call or email me to book or for more information. :)

Thanks for stopping by,
Kerry

Life Love Lens Wednesday: Three of My Favorite Friends! {Midlothian Family Photographer, Richmond Children Photographer}

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Okay, I have been a total slacker with Life Love Lens Wednesday posts. Sorry! If anyone out there is interested in more tutorial/informational type LLLW posts PLEASE let me know what you would like to see. I am getting much busier with client work and mama duties and need to get myself organized for these posts!
So, in the meantime, here is one of my all time favorite families!! Their mama and I picked all of our kids up after school one day, and took all SIX kids down to the boat club. It was drizzling and kinda yucky, so we did a super quick (like 30 minutes) session. I would have liked to spend some more time getting fun shots, but it started raining and we packed it in. I'm still thrilled with the results. Aren't these kids gorgeous??!!

Thanks for stopping by!

A New Adventure: Portrait Parties! {Life Love Lens Wednesdays, Midlothian Family Photographer}

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

So, why am I doing this? Well, first of all, I think it’ll be fun for everyone!! But truthfully, here’s how it started.....It is basically IMPOSSIBLE for me to get my husband to be in family portraits. Yes, as embarrassing as that statement is as a photographer, it’s the truth. I know I’m not alone in this, right?! So, I am constantly trying to come up with ideas that will make it less “painful” for those of us with stubborn husbands, and BOOM, my best idea.....get him “loose” (tipsy, sauced, or er..... sort of, almost, drunk?) Terrible, I know!! But really, I’m out of ideas!! So, I thought a PARTY would be awesome!I started researching some ideas and realized that I am not as innovative as I thought....turns out Portrait Parties are already a “thing” ;).

Don't you want to HOST a Portrait Party?!
Here's what's involved:

First, you need to invite your friends. (At least 4 families in addition to yours.)

Then coordinate with me on choosing a date and a location. Parties can be at your house, country club, boat club, favorite park, etc.

Collect session fees and coordinate session times. (Session fees are due to me at least 2 weeks prior to your party date.) Scheduling example; Smith Family 5-5:20, Jones Family 5:20-5:40, etc. Your guests do NOT need to stay for the entire party, but they must be there for their scheduled mini session time slot.

On the day of your party, you will provide food and drinks for your guests and help me keep things moving along according to the schedule. Your guests will also need to fill out a short info questionnaire and copyright notice. Please make sure that guests are not using their own cameras/phone cameras during the party.

Most of all Have Fun!

About 1-2 weeks after the party all guests will receive an email with directions to viewing  your online gallery. All print orders can be placed directly through the website - you do NOT need to collect orders! :)

Any questions? Feel free to call or email me!

I’m excited about this new adventure, so here’s the fun extra.....the first person to book a Portrait Party will receive a FREE 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas! AND a SECOND one if your party orders total $500 or more!!

What are you waiting for? ;) Contact me today!

Kerry
